Sea Creatures #3 (Bathysphere)
This painting was super fun . I started with a circle, two colorblocks, and some texture. I mostly stayed out of my own way. Using the pastels and pencils over the acrylic is freeing and intuitive. It’s such a different process than the animal paintings.
I was surprised when I added the little repetitive circles, and the little repetitive squares. I guess that’s a motif now. I think they are bubbles, or sand grains, or maybe packets of light in a deep sea environment .
Multi-media on canvas
24” x 24” unframed size
Framed in hemlock total size 25.5” x 25.5”
